For those who didn't know Ervin was an Oakland Housing Authority Police Officer in 1994 and was later hired by OPD in 1996. I was one of Ervin's first FTO's and later his supervisor in our Drug Elimination Unit. Words cannot express my thoughts of this tragic event. We have set up a memorial at our station in honor of Ervin's service and memory. I will truly miss Ervin and he will be in my thoughts always.
