Reflections for Sergeant Ervin Julius Romans, II

God bless your family in these terrible trying times.

To your family:

You have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the public they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of the body to protect others
And strength of the spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication
Dedecation to my job, to do it well
Dedecation to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
for others who trust me
and compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord

Through it all
Be by my side...

NEVER FORGOTTEN...

I would like the family and friends of Officer Romans, as well as the Oakland PD to know that many thoughts and prayers are with them during their time of mourning. These are the times that seem most unreal, and even though our community can relate on a personal level...as we recently lost one of our own...there are no words to convey how deep condolences run for you all. My heart breaks for all of you....God Bless....may Officer Romans' brave soul rest in peace.
