To the Dunakin family,
You do not know me, but I work at ADP. I am so sorry for your loss. As the proud aunt of a police officer and the friend of a woman who lost her husband in the line of duty, it breaks my heart when any officer makes the ultimate sacrifice by 'just doing their job'. I know that words may do little to bring you comfort right now, but you are being held in the hearts of so many people, and I pray that God can bring you some peace and comfort. I also pray for the families of the other officers killed, and for the community of Oakland.

My prayers go out to friends, family and fellow Officers. This was a tragic loss for all of Law Enforcement. We have the pictures of your fallen officers posted up at all of our stations and have had roll-call training on the incident. This is a prime example of how our lives can be taken at any time as we protect and serve our communities. They will not be forgotten. I love you all and will continue to pray for all of your safety. To our brothers and sisters on the Oakland Police Department and to the family of Sergeant Mark Dunakin you have lost a brother, son, father and loving husband. Your loss does not go unnoticed; we in the Albuquerque Police Department Academy Class have also lost our fellow brothers of law enforcement. We are training to perform to the standards set forth by those who came before us and you are included. Sergeant Mark Dunakin will be remembered as a man who worked, lived and died for his community for a better tomorrow as we are training to do the same. In the scriptures we are taught to “bear each others burdens so they might be light” we as a class tell you that your fallen brother, son, beloved father and husband will be in our thoughts and prayers during this time of need.

Dear Dunakin family,
I am so sorry for your loss. My dad's death was 3 years ago, when I was 10, so I know a familiar pain, but what your are going through is nothing like what I expierienced. I extend my sympathy and consolance and hope that in the future we, your family and mine, can be friends and help each other through this difficult time.
