Reflections for Sergeant Mark Thomas Dunakin

I attended the funeral. The celebration of his life was incredible. To sit in the Oracle Arena with nothing but extroadinary men and women from all over the country who live to serve and protect was phenomenal.

Stay strong...Friends, Family, and O.P.D. Many are praying for all of you.

"…They were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Words cannot express my deep sorrow for the loss of Sgt. Dunakin. He helped our neighborhood out by patrolling Park Blvd., the main artery that runs through our neighborhood, and ticketing speeding vehicles in an effort to slow traffic down and make it safe for children crossing that street to go to school. We are so heartbroken. I send my sincerest condolences to his wife and three children and my gratitude for the sacrifices he and they have made to keep us all safe.

Peace be with you,

Patricia Gima
