Mark knew at a very young age he wanted to serve other through a career in law enforcement. He wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and make his own mark. As a teen age Explorer he dedicated countless hours to community service projects and volunteer hours at the Sheriff's department. Mark, I am blessed to have known you and proud of you and your heroic actions when caught in the center of gunfight. Your life has not been easy, you made the best of your recovery and overcame physical limitations without complaint. God Bless you, you are no longer bound to your body. Heavens a safer place.

Last night as I lay sleeping, I died or so it seemed
Then I went to heaven, but only in my dreams

Up there St Peter met me, standing at the pearly gates,
He said "I must check you record, please stand here and wait"

He turned and said "Your record is covered in flaws,
On earth I see you rallied for every losing cause."

I see that you drank alcohol and smoked and partied too,
Fact is, you've done everything a good person should never do.

We can't have people like you up here, your life was full of sin,
Then he paused as he read the last of my record, took my hand and said "Come on in."

He led me up to the Big Boss and said, "Take him in and treat him well.
He used to work in prison, so he's done his time in hell"

OUR PRAYERS GO TO OFFICER PARKERS FAMILY

The 25th Remembrance Ceremony’s theme was “A man, whose name is always spoke is never forgotten.—anonymous” so I speak the names of Deputy Arnold Wilkerson, Deputy Harry Dalton and Corrections Officer Mark Parker but will not utter the name of the attacker for these brave men should be remembered and honored for their sacrifice but the attacker should remain in oblivion.
God Bless All of the Families touched on Jan 9, 2009.
I had the pleasure to meet the families of Deputy Wilkerson & Deputy Dalton and honor to speak to Correction Officer Parker. All left me with admiration of their sacrifices.
God Rest and keep all of them since he has three great officers in his realm now.

Hi Mark. What does someone say to you for what you did years ago? At 19 years old, you had not thought about yourself, you thought of others and saved them from terror. You put yourself in the line of fire, unarmed and out manned. For that sole act, you sir are the true meaning of the word HERO! Your courage and bravery that day changed your life, your family and friends lives and those that worked with you for such a limited time. Im sure that those that knew you best could see you acting in such a HEROIC mannor. The least I can do is leave you a thought here and wish you the best where ever you are now. Rest in Peace. Now your real journey begins.
