My friend, how I miss you so much. I will always remember the ride alongs we took together. The good and the bad. I got to see a side of my friend that few got to see. You would tell me that you weren't afraid to die. You did a great service to the citizens of Corpus Christi and especially me and my family. I will always remember the phone calls when I was ill and the special Christmas and birthday gifts from your family. A part of my died that night of March 11, 2009. I do know that you are in a better place than the place that you left. We met as strangers, you took me as a friend, one day we will meet in heaven where friendship never ends. I know you will now be protecting your family and mine 24-7. Thanks my friend. Miss you.

God Interviews A Cop

The Cop stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Cop.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you alway turned the other cheek?
To my Church, have you been true?"

The Cop squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
Can't always be a Saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was rough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't...I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne
Where the Saints had often trod.
As the Cop waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, Cop,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.

To Lt. Stuart Alexander, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:

I was heartbroken to learn of Stuart's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Alexander family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.

There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Stuart's memory will be forever honored and revered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Stuart gave to his community and the citizens of Texas and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 11, 2009.
