Reflections for Lieutenant David Charles Gann

"Tiny" was one in a million. You were a man of God first and foremost. Then you were a husband and father. Even though you had two biological children, you were "father" to well over two thousand as each child who has passed through our school system in the last few years was yours in their own way. They were first and foremost in your mind. No matter what it took you were always making sure our students were protected and looked after. You touched so many lives in the short time you were with us--all for the better. You took some of our families who had had numerous problems over the years and gave them a way to look forward to tomorrow with a smile instead of anger. And you would remind these families that they were getting better which encouraged them even more. You loved everybody and would always make you smile. There was no one above or below you, everybody was the same. You not only got involved with the children, you became friends with the families as well. This made a huge difference in the way the students thought of you and their respect for you. We will be lost without you and whoever comes after you will have a hard time filling your shoes. When Mr. Layne at the high school asked all of the students who had been touched in one way or another by you to please stand up and the WHOLE student body stood up, that said it all. There will never be another "Tiny" in our school system. You will be sorely missed.

Now that you have moved on to Gods kingdom know your new patrol duties are so much more peaceful and none threatening. Notice too all your brothers and sisters in the badge have all gone before you and are also honorable and loving officers and have all paid the ultimate sacrifice. You finally get to meet and work with your new supervisor Jesus Christ. Feel assured your greta works, your leadership abilities and your integrity will not be forgotten here by your brothers and sisters left behind. They will also tend to your family during their time of greif and mounring your loss here. In Christ.
