Captain you will be missed beyond words can describe. Thank you for the positive influence you played in the last few months for me. The thing I will remember most is you shaking my hand in November and saying that you are glad to have me back. I made sure that I always paid you a visit in your office just to say Hi and now matter how busy you were you stopped and talked. You were always positive and spoke nothing but encouraging words. Thank You for being my Captain most importantly thank you for being my friend. You will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace.

Scott;

I came to visit, didn’t know it was goodbye
I would have been more prepared and might not even cry
Your Brother & I arrived on scene with hope it wasn’t true
But the angels had already been & left & up to heaven they flew.

I share an emptiness with everyone as if we are in hell
I longed to cradle you from that car and make it all back well
I cannot be mad at our God, not dare to utter a cuss,
But for the rest of my days I have to ask why He needed you more than us.

God Bless you nephew, we will care for your family…. Hug your dad for me.
Love - Uncle Dean

To Mrs. Bierwiler, Captain Bierwiler's children, mother and siblings, it is with deep, deep sadness that we express our sympathy for your terrible loss. We know there are no words can even begin to ease the pain and sorrow you are feeling but we want you to know you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. We have been in Captain Bierwiler's debt for the last six years for being instrumental in the capture and elimination of the man who killed my sister, Officer Mary Ann Collura. We were honored with the priviledge of meeting him and the other officers involved, and will keep his memory in our hearts. He will not be forgotten.

To the Hernando County Sheriff's Department, we extend our sincere sympathy for your loss and pray for your healing and safety.

Respectfully,
Linda, Bill and Jessica Hughes

My heart goes out to all who knew you and all who didn't - you served your community for a very long time proving how deeply you cared. I'm sorry you've fallen, but you are a hero nonetheless. I hope people will learn from your passing and the roads will be safer - until then I'm sure your brothers and sisters in blue will be there looking over things.

Thank you friends and family - I know it is hard to have a loved one in this position; I can only imagine what you are going through. Know that many of us are thinking of you and care deeply about your loss.

Rest in Peace Captain Bierwiler, my heart goes out to
your family. Why this way, guns, vests, and we lose our
loved ones to the deadliest of all. The steel of a car.
We lost our daughter-in-law, Deputy Sarah Jones, EOW 10-19-08, also, stuck by a 16 year old. So many lives changed
in on split second. To the family, please find strength
in the FOP and your COPS program. They have been a godsend.
Rest in Peace,
