Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer John Pawlowski

As an officer and a soon-to-be father myself, I can't imagine what this family must be going through. I hope Officer Pawlowski's child always knows that his/her dad was a hero.

Like you, I started a career in police work at a young age with the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico State Police. You have inspired many with loyalty, selfless service, and honor of service to serve the people of Philadelphia and this great nation. The prayers of my fellow officers here at the Coatesville VA Medical Center are with you and your beloved family. God bless you always my brother in blue!!!!

RIP John. Gone, but not forgotten. You will be forever missed in the 35th brother. You'll always be in our hearts.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Another Officer taken way before his time, another child that will never know his father. And why? Because some POS had a gun that never should have. Unbelievable. Rest in peace, Officer Pawlowski and may God bless your family.

I worked at the 35th Police Dist, the old district, i put 2 years there, this was back in the mid 60"s when a police ofcr was respected, i left the force and went on to Pa. State Law Enforcement from which i retired from. My heart felt sympathys go out to John"s family, his expectant wife and there new baby which is not yet born. To lose one life is a tragedy but to lose a life so young is a double tragedy. R.I.P. JOHN, your watch is done.... u did a excellent job at it.

Officer Pawlowski

You took an oath to protect and serve the citizens of Philadelphia and this great country.

In the performance of duty, you made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no greater example of honor. May your loved ones, friends, co-workers find peace.

May the citizens realize the sacrifice made by the law enforcement officers every second of every day.

Rest in peace Officer Pawlowski, we have got it from here...
