Reflections for Detective Christopher Charles Jones

My thoughts and prayers are with this family. I didn't know Officer Jones but he sounds like one terrific man. Not every officer goes above and beyond like Officer Jones did. He will be in my thought and prayers and so will his family. R.I.P

Chris...this entire situation is still so unbelievable to me...I've sat here for an eternity trying to put my thoughts into words...and for once (stop laughing), I'm having a difficult time...I just want to walk into the briefing room on Monday, and see you sitting at the end of the table where I left you on Thursday morning...As you can see...you had a profound impact on so many lives...you were such a great father, friend, and police officer...I'm gonna miss you!

A Moment of Grace
Lord,Grant me a moment of grace was the police officers
last request. As his angel sat beside him, She closed her
eyes and prayed too. Lord, let this officer draw his last
breath with the knowledge that he lived his life serving
and protecting each one of your precious children, and
that the things he felt could have been done a different way. That your will was done. A child of yours served us
all. When the prayer was over the angel awaken the police officer. She looked at his uniform all tattered and torn.
His badge was as though it was new not a scratch on it,
for all these years he wore it close to his heart, and prayed daily that he would do his best. Dear Police officer, it's time to go. Our Father in heaven is waiting for you. The police officer shook his head "No"and said
my shift just begun, and there is no one to take my place
at short notice. She touched his face as a tear fell
softly onto her hand. He said"If, I am dead why wasn't there any pain and suffering?" Because of our prayer it was a moment of grace, that filled you with peace. You
were spared all the heartache through the years, The pain and saddness that you have seen in this life while doing
your job. The Police Officer shed another tear and said
Thank-you Lord for letting me serve you,and everyone else.
Please let everyone know that a police officer never dies
in vain. I loved my job and gave my life like any other officer has done yesterday, The ones who may do the same today, and the Police Officers of tomorrow. May God
Bless them All.

Unknown Author
When the Lord was creating peace officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one"

And the Lord said, "Have you read the spec on this order?" A peace officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch, and not wrinkle his uniform."

He has to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and testify in court the next day."

He has to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half-eaten meals. And he has to have six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands...no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me problems." said the Lord, "It's the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have."

"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through the bulge in a pocket before he asks, 'May I see what's in there sir?' (When he already knows and wishes he'd taken that accounting job.) Another pair here in the side of the head for his partner's safety. And another pair of eyes here in the front that can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say. 'You'll be all right ma'am.' When he knows it isn't so."

"Lord," said the angel, touching his sleeve, "rest and work on this tomorrow."

"I can't" said the Lord, "I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident, and feed a family of five on a civil service pay check."

The angel circled the model of the peace officer very slowly. "Can it think?" she asked.

"You bet." said the Lord. "It can tell you the elements of a hundred crime scenes; recite Miranda warnings in his sleep; detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five learned judges to debate the legality of the stop...and still keeps its sense of humor."

"This officer also has phenomenal personal control. He can deal with crime scenes painted in hell; coax a confession from a child abuser; comfort a murder victim's family; and then read in the daily paper how law enforcement isn't sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects."

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her fingers across the cheek of the peace officer. "There's a leak." She pronounced. "I told you that you are trying to put to much in this model."
"That's not a leak," said the Lord, "it's a tear."
"What's the tear for?" asked the angel.
"It's for bottled-up emotions; for fallen comrades; for commitment to that funny piece of metal called his badge; for justice."
"You're a genius." said the angel.
The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there." he said.od Made Peace Offic

To the family, friends and fellow Officers of Officer Chris Jones. I to lost a friend in much the same way on April 27th 2007. Her name was Officer Lisa Beaulieu. She was one of the best friends I have ever known. I can honestly say that I feel your grief and pain as you suffer this tragic loss. I was asked one time, why do officers do what they do, knowing that when they leave home they may never return ? Why do they sacrafice their lives for the lives of someone else, isn't it an even trade ? I thought about the question for several minutes not knowing if I could even give an answer. The answer suddenly popped into my head like it had been hidden just waiting to be found. If the men and women who are called to serve never answer the call, then who will. The lamen leaves their homes every day expecting that they will return home when the work day is done. Servants,(Officers) on the other hand, dawn their uniforms every day knowing, that they hold fast the thin blue line between good and evil. Unlike the lamen, Officers know the cost, excepts the challenge and sometimes pay the ultimate price so that the lamen can return home like he expected. Nothing in this world will ever replace the loss that you feel. But please know this. Officer Jones knew the cost, excepted the challenge and he has returned home. May God ease the pain of your loss and leave only the cherished memories of the good times and the love. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Author, Edmund Burke.
