A few years ago, close to Christmas, when our Toyota was fairly new, Officer Jones stopped us on Durham Road because we had no inspection sticker. When we bought the car, Toyota offered us free inspection. We had it inspected, but the dealer forgot the sticker. We were nervous wrecks because of unexpected expenses at this time of year. We explained to Officer Jones -- after a few minutes, he handed us a card and very pleasantly asked to have it signed by the dealer and drop it off at the police station. He was not only pleasant but he was also very handsome in his uniform (I'm usually very intimidated by a police officer); he was very kind. We felt like we received our first Christmas present from a very nice angel!

We offer our sincerest sympathy to his endearing family, and may God hold them tenderly in the Palm of His Hand!

Sincerely, Joanne

Jonesie can I tell you what a shock this is to us all. We had just talked Thurs morn, I left at 10am and you told me would be back at 6pm for a lil OT and you would give me a call when I came in then. You left us too soon. You were always smiling. Always cheerful & always ready to help anyone who needed it. That's why you excelled as a Police Officer, as a father, and as a friend. So many lives were impacted and changed because of you and I am so glad to have had you in my life. Thank you for everything you have done and will continue to do for us all... words cant describe it. Love you Chris. RIP

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
for the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
you’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
you’ve done your time in hell"

To Officer Jones Family: I simply want to say "You are all in my prayers". I grieve with you and for you. We to recently suffered a loss in Montgomery. Officer Josh Broadway died as the result of an auto accident. He was only 21 years old. So we do understand your pain. We pray God will give you strength to endure this painful time and we also pray God gives you peace in your heart knowing Officer Jones is watching over you. God Bless

"POLICEMAN'S PRAYER"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

Chris,
As I only had the opportunity to meet you once very early in your career I knew that you had the care and compassion to be one of the best. Some give some, and others give it all. My thoughts and prayers go out to your loving wife and children. Prayers to the Brothers and Sisters of Middletown and the surrounding departments. I know and have worked with some of your friends that are hurting very bad now. Their hope as well as your families hope is the salvation you passed doing what you loved and you will protecting and serving now and for life everlasting. My God Bless you, your family, your service and all the men and women in blue. RIP Chris!

On the few occasions that I spoke with you over the years, you were always a true professional. Reading these reflections and speaking to your co-workers it is obvious to me that you were more than a great officer. You were truly a great human being as well.

Thank you for your dedication and service. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and the officers of Middletown Township.

Rest in peace.

I sat next to Chris in the academy. His smiling, gentle way was the best part of the day.

Think of where man's glory most begins and ends, And say my glory was I had such friends..."Yeats"

Although its been years since seeing Chris,I was certainley comforted knowing the world was better with him in it. It's a very sad time for everyone that was touched by,"Officer Chris Jones".
