Jarod was a good kid.

All he wanted to be was a good police officer. That was his dream, what drove him. Jarod was always full of energy and eager to get behind the wheel of a cruiser. He helped me to remember what the job was like when I first started. After being in this profession for a while some of us forget why we got into it. Jarod reminded me why we do it.

Yet it was not just excitement that Jarod was looking for. He genuinely wanted to help others. It sounds so cliche, but I know it to be true. He always wanted to be on the street, in the community, the schools, helping people. He loved being around the kids, being really just a big kid himself.

He took so much pride in being a police officer. Jarod loved the camaraderie, the brotherhood. We came from his funeral today and all that knew Jarod agreed, he would have been so honored. We were all family.

Tracie and I will miss you Jarod. We will all miss you. God Bless and keep you, and your family, now and forever.

My brother, it has been an honor to serve along side of you. Forgive me for being so tough on you, for now I only wish I had more time with you. As your older brother, all I ever wanted was for you to be the best that you could be. I never realized until now the dedication and respect you had as an officer. You touched so many people and I can't say enough how proud I am of your service.

Be safe my brother, I love you so very much. Rest in peace in kid. Watch over me now as I tried to do for you.

Now Officer Dean learns of all the good he did as a person and especially as an officer. Now he will recognize how many lives he saved or protected by his presence in a police uniform and/or cruiser. God bless you Officer Dean and may God allow to be someone's guardian angel.
