God bless you Senior Corporal Smith. Your time here has come to an end but you will be alive forever in the memories of your friends and family. May God watch over your family as you did for so many others. It is not how you died, but how you lived that makes you a hero. Rest well brother.

I pray that our Lord watches over your family and friends during this tragic time. I know that the Father will guide your children as they journey through life.
You are in our thoughts and prayers, rest well now my friend you've earned it. Watch over us as we continue to carry out your unfinished works.
We will shead tears because of your loss, but we know that you are in a better place now. Give glory to God and we will all be together in His kingdom some day.

My wife and I just were watching an episode on The First 48. We were just watching officer Smith doing exactly the same thing he was doing when he was struck down, going up and knocking on a door to locate a suspect. It just seems so routine to those of us who have not faced it everyday......Shocked is the only way to describe our reaction to Officer Smith's death. He and his family are in our prayers.

We borrow words from a great president...

For the family of Senior Corporal Smith, we cannot bear, as you do, the full impact of this tragedy. But we feel the loss, and we’re thinking about you so very much. Your loved one was daring and brave, and he had that special grace, that special spirit that says, “Give me a challenge and I’ll meet it with joy.” He wished to serve, and he did. He served all of us.

Dear Smith Family, I know there are no words to express your pain. It is always a sad day when the life of a person gets taken in vain. To his duty he responded, now his life shall be a tribute to those who are called to be our angels.

We pray God keep you and be gracious to you and give you peace.

A true hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"I am the Officer"

I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon
The one you cast your scorn upon
The one you bring your troubles to
All of these people I have been for you.

The one who you ask to stand apart
The one you feel should have no heart
The one you call the officer in blue
But I'm a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see
That I am not always what you ask of me
So take this badge, take this gun
Will you take it? .....Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me??

From the moment of the Breaking News on the TV my heart ached for this brave officer and all his family.
May I offer sympathy to his wife, children, all his loved ones and the Dallas PD. May it be comforting to know that others care and are holding you in thought and prayer.
