"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Samborski, we have the watch...

”I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
---Isaiah 6:8

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

The following is a poem that a Detroit Police officer wrote, he knew my brother:

"For those whom remain"

The phone wakes us up this time once again
To tell us we'd missed our duty again.
We all should have been there to see the unseen
We all should have been there to help intervene.

The ER is now working at a fevered pace
While we wait outside and beg for God's grace.
The doctors come out with tears in their eyes
The chaplin tries to help us through our good-byes.

A pain in our soul begins to set in
Our duty is now to his family and friends.
To support and console is not the only task
We do this with honor and without being asked.

We meet at the church to pay our respects
And we go to the cemetary full of regret.
"Amazing Grace" from the piper again this time
We try and help each other not to lose our minds.

With salt on our cheeks and grief in our eyes
We leave our partner with one last goodbye.
Tossing and turning as the night goes on
Wrestling half asleep with what went wrong.

A brother has fallen from our ranks yet again
Leaving nothing but guilt for those whom remain.

Written by R. McLatcher, Detroit Police Department

this was left on my friwnds reflection who was lost in the line of duty.
I feel it needed to be shared.

RIP.

Mark I've said this Prayer over and over for you and your family. You will not be forgotten for making the world a better place. May God take you and keep you close and watch over your family in this time of need. Rest in Peace brother we will keep watch for you.

Dear Lord, Be with me when I am on duty this day and everyday. Let me be Kindly to the old, and to the young be strong: but let me triumph over those whose acts are cruel or wrong. Lord, when my own last summons comes and I stand in your court, may my rest with you be long and my punishment be short.
