I was working dispatch at another department the night of your death. A lot of my guys knew you personally. We knew something was terribly wrong from all the vague transmissions on inter-city. My Officers kept calling in asking if something had happened; Trying to find out if it was specifically you but I was not going to bombard your dispatchers with my questions. I felt so helpless. Dispatch was eerily quiet during that time until we received confirmation that in fact it was you who was murdered in cold blood. My Officers still talk about you. They tell me silly stories of you and it warms my heart a little even though I didn’t know you. I felt a lot of sadness for your parents, your wife, and especially your child. I know she is being told how awesome her Father was and what a great guy he was. Love and hugs to your family, both blood and blue.

3 years ago I wrote a card/letter to your Sarah about our
Sarah...knowing of the sorrow of their loss. I am so grateful for having to gotten to know them & their family. We find comfort in knowing we are not alone. Together, we have become stronger, laugh, cope, find time to help others. You would be so proud of Sarah and the great job she is doing raising Madeline. By the way, she is quiet the little character.

About 4 years ago, you along with other officers responded to a domestic violence call at my house. The problem involved only my parents. My younger sister and I came home from the store right before you guys arrived, and we had no idea what was going on. Although we were unharmed and pretty much clueless, your first priority was to make sure we were OK. I'll never forget that. May god watch over your family. Rest in peace Officer Samborski.

I have been a resident of Oak Park since 1989. I have seen police officers come and go. Officer Mason Samborski was a really down to earth gentleman. He was a person first and an officer second to the people int he community. Her always had a pleasant bright smile. I saw him often in passing on my way to work which, is up the street from the police department.

He was a kind man who believed in second chances and trying to help kids get their lives right I was very hurt when, I heard about his life being stolen by a person who was being given a second chance. Officer Samborksi will NOT be forgotten by his partners, family, friends or the people from Oak Park who,m felt a little bit safer knowing he was out there protecting and serving us.

He is above us in the heavens looking over those he loves and knows and i am sure smiling from ear to ear to know, justice was served on his behalf.
