Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Senior Trooper William Robert Hakim

It was my high school and college years that I knew Bill. At that time, I used to ref middle school soccer for youth leagues in Salem. I will always remember his volunteerism with organized sports. Bill often coached multiple soccer teams and it was always in the parts of the community that needed him most. He connected with players and families in ways that continue to inspire me today. Rest easy Coach.

Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice, I think I can say without a doubt your family is proud of what you did that day, running into such a dangerous threat while other ran away. Lastly, thank you for the lives you had probably saved by responding to such a danger.

Thinking of you today, Bill; your sense of humor, your great outlook on things, and your willingness to put yourself in harm's way when a lesser man would flee.

It breaks my heart that our illustrious Governor John Kitzhaber(and CINC of OSP) has put a moratorium against executions for "as long as I'm in office". Hopefully our next election will put a person in office who has one tenth of your backbone and will carry out the death sentences of the scumbags Bruce and Josh Turnige that caused your and Capt. Tennant's deaths.

Rest easy buddy. We won't ever forget you or Capt. Tennant.

I just heard of your death and am really shaken. I will remember you alway as a friend with a huge smile, loved to ride a motorcycle, loved to shoot pool and dance. I should have known you would have gone on to do great things. You were a good man and I am proud to have known you many years ago. Though I have never met your family I hope they know how lucky they were to have you in their life. Rest in peace Bill. Thank you for your service.
