Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 56th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

I grew up in Denver but remember visiting Chicago in 1955. I was eight years old and staying with my grandparents. I saw a lot of relatives, but not Uncle John. The night before I was to return home, I was awakened in the middle of the night. There was Uncle John, sitting on the edge of my bed. He'd just gotten off work and came to see me. I thought he was incredibly handsome. But mostly I was amazed that he would take the time to visit an eight-year-old neice at the end of his long day. He seemed in no hurry to leave, but sat there and shared a nice long talk with me. The next year he was killed.

My Father was one of your partners in the "Scottland Yard" Unit and to this day, he still (even at 88 years old)tells "war stories" about the adventures you and he had. According to him, you were never hesitant to be the first one through the door. I regret that I never had the honor of knowing you but feel that I do through my Dad's recolections.
I'm sure you've been on the JOB patroling the streets of Heaven.
May you forever rest in peace.

I never had the pleasure of meeting John Blyth, but knew of him prior to my marriage to his son, William, through my aunt, who was a truant officer in his district;I remember her talking about how sad she was that this wonderful young officer had died...she was crazy about him...she attended his wake and funeral, little knowing that years later her niece would marry his son.My dad told me that John Blyth enjoyed a terrific reputation within the force and was expected to go far. How sad for the city, his friends and family that all of the potential never was able to blossom. His name lives on in several of his grandsons including our second son, John Blyth.I wish I had had the privelege of knowing him.

I wish I knew I my uncle and Godfather. Everyone said what a class act he was and a free spiri. My prayers are with his family. John Blyth was my father's hero.

One of my fondest childhood memories was spending time with my "Uncle John". I always thought of him as a true hero and miss him to this day.

Always in my heart,

It is so wonderful to see this tribute to all the wonderful men and women who have paid the ultimate price for the city. I was not even born when my grandfather lost his life and I only hope that I can live up to the name John Blyth.

No one who gives up his live wearing the badge will ever be forgotten, not as long as there is another to pin on the badge and carry on.
