Reflections for Police Officer Alex Del Rio

I only wish we had more time. Time to say good bye. Time to tell you how much you will be missed. Time to tell you.....
I still can't believe you are gone. I thank God for the time we did have together. I hope heaven has those shakes you love.
There is so much more I want to say, but I will wait until we have more time.
Rest In Peace my brother.

just a little note to the families of our fallen brothers.nothing will ever replace that empty void in your life from losing that special person in your life, but remember he or she died for something they believed in and their dedication and bravery will live forever in our hearts.please continue to support law enforcement because it takes a special person to strap on that badge and gun.
Officer Alex del Rio, que dios te tenga en su gloria, y a su familia, que el señor los cubra con su manto y les de paz en estos momentos dificiles.

Alex,

Your service was held yesterday and was attended by thousands of Law Enforcement Officers from around the state. You would have also been surprised by the number of retired Hollywood Police Officers who attended locally and from out-of-state.

You were a professional in law enforcement and truly loved your job. I too remember when you first started here as a part-time Community Service Officer and later becoming a Police Officer.

You were highly respected by all those who knew you and could also be counted to help out on any task.

Your smile, positive attitude and zest for life will always be remembered.

My last conversation with you less than a week before this tragic event was when I saw you in the gym and you stated… “How are the wife & kids doing?” That was the type of person you were………always upbeat and caring!

Thank you again for allowing me to be a friend in your life!

Alex,

So many tears over the last days...So many questions...So much pain. Watching your beautiful family hold their heads high and remember all that you were is a blessing to me that I will always cherish. There are so many lessons to learn from a life such as yours. I will take each one and hold it dear to my heart and use the inspiration of your life to make a better person of myself everyday. Always a smile, always concern and compassion in your voice, always a friend to me. I love you and will miss you dearly.

Alex,

I thank God for having had the opportunity to have known you and been your friend. I found you to be such a nice and decent a person from the very first day I met you when you started working at the department in 1996.

The way you conducted yourself in dealing with your family, friends, and the public should be an example for all of us in our daily lives and what we teach our children to strive for. You were such a positive person, always with a smile and a kind word for everyone you saw.

I still can't believe you are gone. You were truly a class act and we will forever miss you greatly. God bless you.

To Alex's family, I am so sorry for your loss and pray that God helps you to carry on knowing how loved Alex was by all of his Hollywood P.D. family.

Alex, you were laid to rest today. It was a beautiful ceremony, I'm sure you watched it from above. You were a great man, and a great officer, but an even better friend and inspiration I feel privileged to have known you, as I wait eagerly to begin my career in law enforcement, yours has just retired. Please watch over your family, friends, and the other members of HPD and let us know how it is up there. I miss you man. Rest easy.

Alex,

I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but after viewing your funeral service today and hearing all the upbeat, positive comments about you, I was touched immensely and felt as though I knew you. It was obvious that you were a special person who thoroughly enjoyed your service to the citizens of Hollywood. Another lost too soon, but God only takes the best! Godspeed, Alex, look for Deputy Barry Hill (Harris County, TX, EOW 12/4/00). I'm sure he will make a place for you.
