Please accept our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and agents of the FBI during your time of loss. It is especially troubling when you see a child lose their father at such a young age.

This morning I learned with great shock and sadness of the death of my former colleague and friend, Sam Hicks. All of us that knew and worked with him in Baltimore are numb with grief. Not only was Sam a good cop, he was a genuine person. I remember several months ago Sam came back to Baltimore for a narcotics trial with our old squad. During a break in the trial, Sam and I had coffee. With a huge smile on his face, he showed me pictures of his young son and told me how special it was for him to be a father. He was telling me how wonderful life was and how much he loved Brooke and their son. How much he was looking forward to his new career in the F.B.I. The memory of that converstaion has stayed with me and this is how I will always remember him. My heart goes out to Brooke and their son. God Bless you.......
