Sam,

You will be missed. Brooke and Noah are in our prayers.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,
"Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?"
Then I said, "Here I am. Send me!"

Do not give up or become discouraged. He will always be with you. He died protecting our country, our values, and our people, and for that, no words can thank you enough for the support you gave him in becoming an agent and for his brave efforts and those of all of his colleagues.

To the family of Special Agent Samuel Hicks,
Sam's death has angered and saddened me, but his life has humbled me. He was one of this country's best, brightest, and bravest. Of all of the paths he could have taken, he did not choose the one with the greatest material rewards or the most comfortable lifestyle. He chose to work harder and give more, often for people who may never fully know, recognize or appreciate all that he did. I grieve for you, for the loss of your husband, father, son, brother, for Sam's friends and colleagues, and for our country, who lost one of the best we had. I hope you find strength and comfort. Thank you.

It was not unusual to find Sam sleeping on my couch in times past. Sam and my son, Jason, were attached at the hip during their high school days. Sam climbed in my kitchen window one day while I was setting at the table. Sam, the door is open. Yes, I know, said Sam, but this is more fun. I will cherish many memories. Sam was and always will be a special part of our family. He will be missed.
The Kelley family sends our deepest sympathy and prayers to Brooke, Noah and the family.
