To the family and friends of Sgt. Michael King and the members of the University City Police Dept.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered when Sgt. King was tragically killed.

To Sgt. King's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace and for justice for Michael's senseless death.

In reading his reflections, I can see that Michael was an amazing man who will be sorely missed.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Michael gave to his community and the citizens of Missouri, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 31, 2008.

I pray there is swift justice and he gets what is coming to him. To all those in blue, be careful out there! - Cpl. Bell, MSHP.

Sergeant King,

I came across the news of your untimely death in an article about the coward who took your life. I am deeply saddened that an individual would take a life, of a hero such as yourself, for no reason other than that you wear a uniform. You are a true hero, and you will always be remembered as more than just a uniform.

Mikey: You were the best officer, best leader, best friend that any officer, new or old, could ever ask for. You took such pride in your work and encouraged everyone else to do the same. You made me laugh and tried, many times, to give me advice. I wish I had listened to you buddy! Your officers say you were the best sergeant. I don't doubt that for a second. UCPD has lost its FINEST officer. You will never be forgotten, Sgt. Michael King. Rest in Peace #302.
