A sad day for all of Law Enforcement. You will always be remembered! Rest in peace, my brother.

The Correctional Officers Prayer

Lord, I ask for courage...
Courage to face and conquer my own fears.
Courage to take me where others will not go.

I ask for strength...
Strength of body to protect others.
Strength of spirit to lead others.

I ask for dedication...
Dedication to my job, to do well.
Dedication to my community, to keep it safe.

Give me, Lord, concern for all those who trust me.
and compassion for those who need me.

And, please Lord, through it all
watch over me and keep me true.

DB, Lieutenant
Federal Bureau of Prisons

To the family and friends of Correctional Officer Rodney Kelley and the members of the Alabama Dept. of Corrections, and most especially to Rodney.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Rodney died so traqically.

To his family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I hope you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Rodney gave to his community and the citizens of Alabama, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 3, 2008.
