REST IN PEACE BROTHER. YOU ARE A TRUE HERO.

Deputy Davis
Pittsylvania County Sheriffs Office

October 9, 2008

My prayers are with you, your family, and fellow Officers,

I lost my best friend/brother Officer Wayne Clark on January 10th, 2006 after twenty three years. We severed together for nineteen years. I hope everyone understands the pride Officer Douglas Falconer had while doing what he loved. I pray for those he left behind and know that he still love you and will be with you everyday. I understand the pain, but know that the hurt will diminish. It will never stop but his memory will also be yours to keep for ever.

During a bad time when I missed my partner, Connie; Wayne’s fiancée gave me a poem; Pennies from Heaven. I think of this poem when I find a penny. I think; today on the ground I found a penny, but not just a penny. This penny was from an Angle in Heaven. When the Angle misses you and he will just tosses one down just to cheer you up. Take a moment and smile and save the penny. Connie and I have many pennies in our collection.

You to will find that Doug will send you pennies. These pennies are from your Angle in Heaven.

May God Bless You

I remember Doug from my days at the Arizona Department of Corrections Globe Unit. Doug was a great man, and Officer! I remember Doug coming into the Special Security Unit (SSU) office wanting to learn everything he could about gangs on numerous occasions. Doug was always striving to better himself and learn something new.

You will be truly missed my brother! You were a great Officer, friend and neighbor. I will miss seeing you and speaking with you. I still find myself looking toward your house as I drive by in my squad car in hopes that you be standing in your yard and smile and wave as you always did.

I remember you always asked me how things were going at the Sheriff's Office and I would reply, "Just chasing the bad guys". Doug would reply with a laugh; "Job security brother, job security".

I will be in the motorcade tomorrow (10/08/2008)with my red and blues on for you my brother. Rest in peace; it's our turn to take the watch.

Rest in peace Doug for your time here is done. We will never stop missing you, a part of our family and a true friend. I will never forget the Doug with the long hair and beard who told my oldest daughter when she was about 5 years old that you wanted to be a rock star when you grew up. When I first saw you at the unit many years later I did not recognize you because your long hair and beard was gone, but you sure cleaned up nicely and even more became a fine upstanding officer for the Department of Corrections. You were greatly admired by your inmate crew and you mentored them in ways that they will never forget and you changed theirs lives. Rest in peace Doug and know you are missed and loved.

Doug always took time to great you with a warm smile and an extended hand. He cared about everyone. His greatings were always genuian and sincer. He never spoke a bad word about anyone. This is a man that walked tall and proud. He did not demand respect for respect was given him freely.

To the family and friends of Correctional Officer Douglas Falconer and the members of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and most especially to Douglas.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Douglas died.

To his family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I hope you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Douglas gave to his community and the citizens of Arizona, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 1, 2008.
