Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself
mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid...He is the hero,
he is everything.

He must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it.

He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world.

Pat your sacrifice will never be unnoticed and you will never be forgotten...Heroes never die.

Rest in peace my brother.

"We in this world today...shall be remembered...we few...we happy few...we band of brothers...for he today who sleds his blood with me...shall BE my brother.
Least ye say it proudly...We are but warriors for the working day." God Bless each and everyone of your family and friends during this sad time. We've got your back until our shift ends...My Brother.

Police Officer Patrick McDonald,

The circumstances of your death are as horrific as any that have ever occurred. An officer responding to a call for protection to the public and is gunned down upon arrival. Our job is fraught with peril and high risk. Only a special breed of individual can fill the police uniform, and gratitude and thanks are not our reward. The true mark of a professional is doing his/her best work despite the conditions and the circumstances. We who wear the uniform honor our own. We seek nothing, but the approval of ourselves knowing that when the call comes in we step forward and do what needs to be done. Criticism is something the common person engages in because he can only wonder what the person wearing the uniform possesses to make him/her worthy as a soldier of the law. But WE know. It is Honor. It is Courage. And, it is Valor. None of these things mean anything to the ordinary folk. They mean everything to us. A hero to a lot of people is someone who makes them feel better about themselves. A Hero to US is when one of our brothers or sisters in blue make us feel that we wish we were at their side in their hour of need. Officer Patrick McDonald is such person. He was the best their could possibly be. HE is a hero. To him I render a final salute.

Officer McDonald, you took an oath to protect and serve the citizens of Philadelphiaand this great country of ours.

In the performance of your duty, you made the ultimate sacrifice.

There is no greater example of honor. May your loved ones, friends, co-workers find peace. May the citizens realize the sacrifice made by the law enforcement officers every second of every day.

Rest in peace Officer McDonald, we have got it from here...
