Looked up old photos of time spent at ONP back in '88, including the legendary 'Oly House' parties.

Whilst you may be gone, Kris, rest assured that you're not forgotten.

She is not forgotten. I liked the fact she was protecting the forests for, and from all of us, while protecting the creature who live there.

Best wishes to her family. Also to her old friends and coworkers.

Just a guy in KC Missouri.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 4th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. You will always be remembered and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and miss you for I know the pain and pride are forever. The reflections left by your family and friends were touching and they are in my heart's embrace.

As we come up on 4 years without you Kris, I thought of your smile, your dedication, and your family. Know that you have made other natural resource officers safer. Know that we will not forget. Continue to whisper in the ear of every LEO making a stop.

Sitting in my patrol car, killing a little downtime between calls and surfing the 'net in some random way as I often seem to do, I came upon a picture of a new USFS patrol boat, the Kristine Fairbanks, and was inspired to find out some more about the person behind its name, which lead me to this memorial page.

It is not so different then many hundreds of others that I have seen. Far too many, I might add. I did not know Kristine, but her story is familiar...like so many other fallen brothers and sisters, she was clearly an exeptional human being, and touched many lives in positive ways. She is clearly remembered with much love and respect, and that is a true hero's legacy, isn't it?

This is also a reminder to all of us that wear a badge, to renew our vigilance, to protect ourselves from those who would harm us, whether we are patrolling an urban street or a beautiful rural forest. Rest in peace, Kristine, and help watch over us all.

Today I look out at the boat harbor in Cordova, Alaska and I can see the new Chugach National Forest law enforcement boat - the P/V Kristine Fairbanks. Reading the many reflections that have been written here for Officer Kristine Fairbanks makes me realize the amazing dedication and passion Kristine had for what she did. We are honored to be the home to the boat that bears her name. I never met Kristine - but will often think of her and her loyalty to protecting the public and our nation's natural resources.

We are organizing to get ready to move. We have been told my husband's state park position has been cut. When we move I will be abandoning my business which you were a client. I have been finding pictures of your daughter at various ages, cards from you and other things. Now, another Ranger has been shot and killed. She leaves two young daughters. Her husband is a Ranger too. The parallels here are so eerie. My heart breaks again for you and your family and this new Ranger family. Once again I hope that your last words to your family were of love (although, knowing you they may not have been, LOL) just as I do for Park Ranger Margaret Anderson. But, I know they were words of normal life, then things changed and life was no longer normal, and it will never be again.

Thinking of you today Kris. Still miss you and tear up as if it were yesterday. Still can't believe the world is without you. I hope your friends, both two and four legged, are doing okay. Every time I play with four-leggeds, I think of you and the wonder and joy you shared with them. Bet you're playing with a whole herd of barking, tail wagging friends up there!

It is hard to believe you have been gone for 3 years. I think of you all the time, but really hits when out with the K9's for training. There are memories of you all around, and I still tear up when I think of the loss to your family, and to our community. You will always be remembered.
