I had the great pleasure of working with Kris and her first partner Ruger and again with Radar. Kris was a handler that was only interested in providing the best service for her profession and would travel anywhere at her own expense to accomplish that. As we keep her family in our prayers we will also remember her for her sincere dedication, service and great sense of humor.

I never knew Kris personally but I was privleged to see her in the the community. After a long day of work, she spent time with the Forks Search and Rescue group and explained how her and her dog worked-she also came out to help on one those really rainy nights when we were looking for someone. The main thing I will remember is watching her with her daughter after a volleyball game and the pride in her voice. There has been countless acts of kindness done by this hero that many will never know and for all she is -will ne missed especially in Spartan Gym.

I am so saddened by the loss of Officer Fairbanks and my prayers go out to her daughter, husband, family, friends, and co-workers. Another Biologists said it perfectly earlier in these pages. All of us who ever worked in the field, often alone, greatly admire and appreciate the work of our LEOs. Kris made it possible for the rest of us to do our job, and she protected the resources we all love. I am convinced that her keen observation, intuition and guts, while costing her life, saved the lives of several other people as well as her K9. May the LORD provide the peace that surpasses all understanding to her daughter and husband.

I will always remember you for your dedication and the love you had for your family and the job. I am really going to miss your enthusiasm, especially when it manifested itself in your infectiously high pitched laughter. I am certain that at its peak your laughter could only be heard by dogs. I will also miss keeping a tally of the number of curse words that came out of your mouth and with each one Whitney’s college fund grew by a quarter.
