I watched the news broadcast about this incident and was sad that so many people lost their lives that day. Now I am even more upset that one of them, is one of us. Officer Desha, it is not long we serve, but what we do with our career. Thank-you for your service. Rest in peace.

I went to Spree's graduation from police academy. She was so proud to be a member of LAPD. I remember that day well. Spree was a trained dancer. She had a professional dancer's grace about her. Even in her LAPD uniform, she carried herself with the poise and elegance of a trained dancer. Spree was a spectacular woman. Kind, real, strong, inspirational, creative, elegant and unique. She will be missed. I wish her parents much peace at this difficult time.

I lost my son, Deputy Jim Tutino, in the last Metrolink crash.. I feel so deeply for this officer's family. My prayers and sympathy are with them and all of these officers who make the supreme sacrifice. I hope they are all together in Heaven having fun and watching over us all.
Maybe God has a great police force there. I have found over these last years that just to be doing this difficult and often un-appreciated job ..you have to be a special person to begin with and then you become even more special. Here's a poem that my pastor gave to me

In the rising of the sun and in its going down
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter
In the opening of buds & in the warmth of summer
In the rustling of leaves &the beauty of Autumn
In the beginning of the year & when it ends
When we are weary and in need of strength
When we are lost & sick at heart
When we have joys we yearn to share
So long as we live, they too shall live
For they are a part of us and part of you O God
As we remember them.

Take heart ! Be proud !
