I was honored to attend Sgt. Starzyk's memorial service on 9/11/08 with my fiance who is a police officer.
All the men and women in uniform that attended to be there not only for Mrs. Starzyk and the children but to show the respect for Sgt. Starzyk and the men and women of Martinez PD you know that it is a true "brotherhood" that they have with each other whether they work in the same department or have never met. They are always there when God takes one to heaven.
While in the procession seeing all the people that were lining the roads showed the respect and honor that a brave hero received.
Sgt. Starzyk you are dearly missed by all that had the honor to know you and those that worked beside you while you protected the citizens of Martinez. Now you join all the brave officers that had gone before you in protecting those that are still patroling down here on Earth. Always protect your brothers and sisters in blue...

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Revelation 12:7-12

You were honored today as the hero that you are. I didn't know you but I cried for you, your wife, your parents, sisters, all who loved you but especially your children. They are beautiful and my heart just broke when I saw them, knowing that they will never understand why their daddy was taken away. Your children will be what gives your family the will to face the future.

Rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Starzyk family during this difficult time. I have heard nothing but; beautiful words regarding Officer Starzyk. My Brother reached out to me and informed me how Paul backed him on difficult situations re: their calls that they would need back up. He was always willing to lend a helping hand as a Sister of a Officer this is all so refreshing knowing that my Brother could count on Officer Starzyk to "Have his back" so to speak. Our communties Loss is Heaven aboves gain as sad as this news is he is and always will remain a "True Hero" and now a "Angel" to always protect and watch over us ALL...." May God give everyone strength during very difficult time".
