Thank you for your friendship. As we count down the days to a year since you started protecting us from above, I can't help but to think that It could have been any one of us that responded that day.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have known you, worked with you and shared laughs with you. I pray everyday, that God comforts the hearts of your family and friends that miss you everyday.

Paul I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You saved MANY lives that day, to include mine. You will never be forgotten brother.

I am proud of the way you served your community and will never forget the time you rode with me when you came back to your hometown for a visit when you were interested in pursuing a career as a Police Officer. I only met Paul twice while working downtown. Very friendly guy. His wife always had nice things to say about him also.

Shannon, there are no words I can say to make it better. He did his job out there that day and saved many lives. Be proud of him. If you ever need anything, your brothers and sisters in blue (and tan), are here.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Sergeant Starzyk. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on face book. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Paul, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Paul's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Paul's life was about so much more than the way he died. Paul will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Sergeant Starzyk, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost six years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I din't know Paul directly but I heard soo many wonderful things about him. I know one thing personaly is that he made my cousin(his spouse) very very happy. From reading all the info on him and can honestly say he was one of the forces finest. Its hard to find an honest and dedicated officer these days. I hope from this tragady that all officers will love and respect their job and citizens more. To the spouse( my favorite cousin) yall are in our prayers and if theres anything we can do for you please don't hesitate to call. Loves always and again sorry for your lost, Lil Ken & Family.
