I have had the honor of working for Sgt Starzyk for many years. He was one of the finest and safest officers I have ever met. We are all very deeply saddened by our loss. I am so truly sad to hear this news today. My boyfriend is a law enforcement officer locally and this news breaks my heart. I am praying and will remember his wife and children in my prayers as they will need much courage to face the days ahead. Please remember you are not alone and loved.

I am greatly saddened by the loss of Paul. I knew him well and he was an excellent police officer. We are leaving town Monday so I won't be able to attend his funeral service. My thoughts will be with him, his family and the entire Martinez Police Department.

Your soul will forever grace the grounds of the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., where its there a statue emodies everything you stood for in your final hour....it reads, "The weak flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are bold as a lion."
