Tim,

Words cannot express the sadness I feel; I had no idea. I was talking to my cousin (who seen you in July) & she was talking about a memorial for someone named Tim Haley; I panicked and called Allen, sure enough, it was you. What a wonderful person & truly an honor to call you my friend. To your wife & family, Gods blessings. Even in heaven, I know you'll be protecting the streets of gold ! Love ya :o)

To those who loved Officer Haley, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Timothy will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Haley for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

To the family and friends of Officer Timothy Haley and the members of the Columbus Division of Police, and most especially to Tim:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Tim tragically died.

To Officer Haley's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

My son was also an organ doner and we are very close to his heart and kidney recipients. Both of these men attended almost all of the 4 month long trial for the men who murdered my son. Knowing that Larry has helped others live has provided much comfort in the last three years. Thank you to Tim and his family for making this magnificant gift of life.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Tim gave to his community and the citizens of Ohio, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 26, 2008

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path god laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Than fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
I believe in God and believe I will see you again.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

I read a lot of these reflections of other fallen officers, but I was so struck by this loss. My husband was also a member of the SWAT Team and died due to a SWAT training accident 10 months ago. He was declared brain dead and I decided to donate his organs as well. It has been one of the things that has brought healing to a tragic situation. I have heard from a couple of the recipients of his organs and they are doing very well. The gift of life that you have given to others is immeasurable but so is the magnitude of your loss. I pray that God would comfort you and hold you in His hand.
Officer Haley, thank you for your dedicated service and the legacy of service and sacrifice you have left. You will never be forgotten
