I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Monte at Cox, it was my first law enforcement job right out of the academy. Monte always had his smile ready to go, and kept us rookies out of getting ourselves in trouble more times than I could say. He had an infectious laugh, he knew his friends and their families, and was there for anyone who needed him. Monte will be missed by all of us who knew him, but never forgotten.

Where you work isn't the issue, it's that you did the work that makes you part of the family.

The lowlife who took your life no doubt didn't mean to end your time here on Earth but that doesn't matter to your wife and children. Through your efforts as a Hospital Police Officer (and the efforts of the Springfield Officer), I believe that more persons were spared serious injury. You laid down your life for the sake of others and that makes you a hero.

God Bless Officer Ruby. My heart and my prayers go out to your family at home and at CoxHealth Public Safety. Rest in Peace, Brother, you've earned that rest.

The following is a Fallen Officer's Prayer that was found while a Pueblo Police Officer visited the N.Y.P.D. Museum & Ground Zero in 2005 Officer's Prayer

Fallen Officer’s Prayer

I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
My Name For All Eternity.
Recorded Here At This Hallowed Place.
Alas, My Name, No More My Face.
'In The Line of Duty' I Hear Them Say.
My Family Now The Price To Pay.
My Folded Flag Stained With Their
Tears.
We Only Had Those Few Short Years.
The Badge No Longer On My Chest.
I Sleep Now In Eternal Rest.
My Sword I Pass To Those Behind And
Pray They Keep This Thought In Mind.
I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me.
And With A Heavy Heart And Bended
Knee, I Ask For All Here From The
Past...
Dear God, Let My Name Be The Last.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Officer Ruby will always be remembered as a HERO...
