Shawn was one of the most professional law enforcement officers that ever walked into my court in over a decade. I admired and respected his demeanor as a trooper. The New York State Police can be very proud to have had Shawn on the force. He certainly represented that organization outstandingly! My condolences go out to all of his family, friends, and fellow troopers.

Shawn always had a kind word for everyone and I never saw him in a bad mood. He was always there to help and a usual hello meant at least a five minute conversation about family, work or something else meaningful. You were one-of-a-kind Shawn, and you will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Shawn, and Godspeed.

Trooper Shawn W. Snow,

Our job is full of pitfalls and danger. Generally, we are concerned with the well-being of others and focus on helping keep the public safe. Occasionally, the worst happens during a common and every day situation. It reminds us that not all threats to our lives exist in the encounter with other human beings. Sometimes the enemy conceals itself in routine assignments. It is sometimes nature or unguarded power sources or machinery that present a threat to our well-being. The pain and the loss is just as severe when a law officer dies, though it be accidental, in the performance of his or her duty. You will be remembered as a hero because you gave your life while serving others as a soldier of the law. Well done, trooper...well done.

Our hearts go out to this family, may you in some small way try to find comfort. If we could take away your pain, believe me we would. We know that your family and your EMS families will be there for you. You and your emergancy family will be in our daily prayers.

We know your pain, and we would like to tell you it will get better, but that would be a false statement. We lost our only son in a high speed chase May 15, 2004. Things have not been the same since that night. Our life was turned upside down and back again.
Please trust in the Lord, Pray hard for Godto give you comfort. In the meantime you are on my prayer list.
