The short time we worked together was but a brief moment in your life-just long enough for me to share in the pain and greive the loss-for your family and fellow officers.
Guess the Lord needed another Angel- at his side...as others from OCSO have gone before you...

I know about the pain of losing a brother in the line of duty. I extend my deepest thoughts to Tony's immediate family and his extended law enforcement family. May his legacy live on and never be forgotten.

When you ask most people they will tell you that Okaloosa County and Fort Walton is a peaceful place. Those that are not in public safety tend to take for granted the dedication and hard work of our Law Enforcement Officers. It is thier selflessness that makes our city a peaceful place. We dont see crime, or think about it because there are incredible men and women behind the scenes willing to give all to keep us safe. Deputies like Tony Forgione work with absolute dedication that allows me to rest easy at the firehouse knowing my Wife and daughter are protected at home. I thank all of the officers here in Okaloosa County, and across the country for providing that safety. Tony paid the ultimate price and will never be forgotten. I once heard a statement at Fire fighters funeral that I think of for Tony: "He was couragous not because he did not feel fear, but because he was willing to fight fear on behalf of others." Thank you all for being out there every day and night so we can sleep easy in our beds. "All gave some, and some gave all." You will be missed Tony.

Rest easy my brother, you and your team did a fine job. Although you paid the ultimate price, the rest of your team is here because of you. May God be with your family and friends throughout these trying days ahead. To my brothers in Okaloosa, keep your heads held high with pride for such a fine officer, as he would do the same for you. Don't hesitate to call upon us for support at anytime. God Bless each and every one of you.

According to Col Dave Grossman, there are three types of people: Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs. The sheep are the meek and mild (general public) who fear the wolf (bad guy) and most often have no use for the Sheepdog (law enforcement officers, AKA: warriors) until the wolf comes knocking.

Tony was the epitome of the Sheepdog. He devoted his life to others - to protecting the flock. Devoted to his duties, he gave the ultimate sacrifice July 22, 2008 while protecting the citizens of Okaloosa County. The “Thin Blue Line” between peace and anarchy has stretched a little thinner with this lose.

Tony will be missed, but he will also be remembered as OUR HERO! The pain and sorrow we are feeling now will eventually fade with time – but he will always be in our hearts. The one thing that brings a smile to our heart is knowing that Tony is 10-7/10-42 in the arms of the Lord - a much better place. I know that Tony is up there in Heaven looking down on all of us and we will see him again someday.

For Tony’s family - know that your husband, your father, your brother, and your son is, and was, a true professional and a hero in all respects. Those of us who worked with him for so long on Delta Squad are hurting and grieving with you, because we too have lost a brother. Delta Squad can never be the same.

For Tony – Rest in Peace Brother, we have the watch now. Your family is our family. We will take care of them, just as you would have done for one of us. YOUR DEATH WILL NOT BE IN VAIN. We will continue the fight and we will carry on. Knowing we now have you for a Guardian Angel will make the day to day grind just a little easier.

In John 15:13, The Bible says, “No greater love hath a man, than to lay down his life for another.” Tony has proven his love for us all – his fellow man – by laying down his life to protect us all from evil. May his memory be honored forever.

I am sadden by the turn of events. We all know this can happen but never think it will. My heart goes out to the wife and two daughters of Deputy Forgione. I have many friends on the Okaloosa Sheriffs Office and have spoken with them in lengths. There is nothing harder to grip than a loss of a brother. Deputy Forgione died doing what he knew was right. God Speed Deputy Anthony Forgione watch over us all.
