Gary will be remembered by his co-workers and friends forever. He was the type of person that made you smile as soon as you saw him. Even from across a parking lot. His quick wit and positive attitude made you glad to be his friend. The world is a little darker without his smile to brighten it up.

Our prayers for his family. We will not forget.

My heart felt sorrow for this tragic loss. May the God of Peace be with the family, co-workers and friends of Officer Gryder. Our agency lost an officer under the same set of circumstances on New Years Eve this year. It is so hard to wrap our minds around a situation like this.

Let me start out that my heart goes with the family and especially the teenage son. My father was killed in the line of duty on 12-6-2000, and at the time I had just turned 16. He was a narcotics investigator for Gonzales County. This is a tragic loss and I know how it feels. It is a terrible thing for the department also, as you have lost a friend and coworker. I will pray for the family and the coworkers going through this time and I hope that justice is served for the actor.
God bless you Gary and God bless your family.....

Rest in Peace brother. You are a true hero. May God bless your family. To officers Gryder's family,
CHRIST SAYS WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS REJOICE THAT WE SHARED THIS LIFE WITH GARY AND MOST OF ALL REJOICE IN THE HOPE THAT YOU HAVE FOR WHAT SURELY WILL BE, NOT WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. OUR EYES ARE MOISTENED WITH TEARS AND OUR HEARTS ACHE WITH GRIEF, YET IT'S ALL MINGLED WITH JOY. WHAT HAPPENS TODAY IS NOT A PERIOD OF FINALITY, JUST A PAUSE BEFORE TOMORROW.

Harris County Constable, Pct. 4

I can say I know just how devistated you are after having gone thru this same thing EOW 2/7/2008. Only God knows the true reason for what seem senseless murders. My son was shot in the head. He left a wife and a 3 & 5 yr old.
Reach out for all the support you can find. It is a long hard road to travel alone so you need support and for sure, God. Just remember that Gary is a HERO.
You are in my prayers and will continue to be. I live in Snyder, Tx. but my son was in Kirkwood, Mo.
