Nick,
It is hard to believe that you have been watching over us for 7 years. You are still thought about and missed everyday. Your wife and daughters and family are all in my prayers. It is still hard for you to be gone. Everyone at the reunion miss you but everyone had funny and wonderful stories to remember you.

Officer Heine - Reading these reflections from your famuily, friends, and co-workers tells me so much about you. Your are, clearly, very loved and sorely missed.

Two Fridays ago I stood in the State Assembly chambers when your name was one of the almost 250 read off during a vote regarding next month's Police Memorial Week. You are not forgotten. Thank you for your service to the people of Pueblo and the state of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may his perpetual light shine upon you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was irstmurdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I can see by the reflections left that you are loved and missed by many. Your family is in my heart's embrace.

To those who loved Officer Heine, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Nicholas will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Heine for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne

Nick,

You will never be forgotten. Not only were you a great officer, but more importantly you were a great friend. You had an amazing amount of knowledge, and were more than willing to help others. I still look for you at shift change, standing by the break room waiting for roll call, smoking a cigerette with Gil or John. And I can still hear your voice greeting me with "whats up you bald 'blank'" You were too young Nick....but I know your in a much better place. Just remember, if God is bald, don't greet him the same way.

You'll always be a brother.
We all love and miss you Nick

I had the pleasure to work with Nick for aboutwo years. In that two years i seen Nick grow from a rookie officer to the officer that he became. Nick was always good at remebering names of people he dealt with only a couple of times and was an excellent resource. Nick and i also were in some hairy situations (that I wont put down on record) but have to say he never stopped fighting and would always back you up to the end. I will always remember Nick and will miss him dearly. My condolences go out to nicks family.

Nick,
It was truly an honor to have been able to serve these streets with you. You were one of the best officers this department has seen in a long time. You knew how to treat everyone with respect, and it didn't matter if they were the best of the best or the worst of the worst. You are an officer that all others look up to. I know that you were definitely one of the officers that I looked up to for guidance. You were an officer that never left your partners behind and I know that you will continue to have our backs. You left this world too early but being the good person you are I know that you build a good foundation for Nichole and Rebecca. There is a huge hole that has formed with your passing. We all find comfort in knowing that you are always with us and we will all meet again someday. May you rest in peace brother. Thanks for all the fun times and good memories.
