Reflections for Correctional Officer Jose Rivera

Officer Rivera's ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. His memory will be carried in the hearts of his entire BOP family. His courage to perform duties that most of society could not or would not do, makes him the type of person most others only wish they could emulate. I hope that the love expressed by each person on these pages helps bring some comfort to Officer Rivera's family. You are in our thoughts, on our minds and forever in our hearts.

What a shame. For a man to lose his life doing something honorable at such a young age and so early in his career. My condolences go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of C.O. Rivera. I hope that everyone in the law enforcement profession will take a moment an reflect on what is most dear to them and realize that it can all be taken away in an instance. Let us all keep doing our best to watch each others backs, stay strong, and keep up the good work.

My heart goes out to Jose Rivera's family and friends. For we have lost a hero! I have been in the BOP 18 years and have seen tragedy first hand. Scott Williams was someone I knew briefly but his memorial band remains on my wrist. Jose, you are in His arms now and you will be at peace. To die so young and so senseless is a tragedy for us all. When will it stop? May the Lord protect every single one of us who enter the instiutions across our America. Jose Rivera, you will not die in vain. God Bless
