We all put on our uniform and perform our duties each and every shift knowing the possible dangers. Tragicly your shift has come to an end. May you rest in peace and continue to watch, not the criminals but down on us your brother and sister officers from your post in heaven.

It's a sad day throughout the Bureau. We have lost one of our own without any rhyme or reason. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Rivera family. I can only hope that knowing their son was a true "hero" may help them endure this horrific tragedy. Officer Rivera is now gone, but he will never be forgotten by me or the entire Bureau. I'll be praying that God grant you comfort for your loss.

Family of Officer Rivera:

My prayers go out to you and also to for all of us who work in law enforcement. Jose payed the ultimate sacrifice while trying to protect others. It takes a noble kind, and gentle spirit to take on such a difficult task. No doubt, Officer Rivera had such a spirit.

I know this is a difficult time, but know that God heals all wounds, and comforts all pain. Jose's absence is from the body, but not from the hearts of those who loved him, respected him, and not from his colleagues who will continually honor him.
