Reflections for Correctional Officer Jose Rivera

It saddens my heart to hear that such a young promising individual could be taken so suddenly for no reason what so ever. Although we are told the risk of our occupation none of us ever truly believe this could happen to us. I can't image the magnitude of your grief. I wanted to send some comfort your way by way of offering to you a prayer of comfort and the knowledge that many many Officers and their families grief with you and your family, as your son was our brother. May God bless you and keep you in your time of need.

I was very sorry to hear the news about this great tragedy. It is, more so, as I have found he was a Navy Vet, since I am Retired from the Navy and working in the BOP.
Whatever I say is little to mitigate your sorrow, but it is from the bottom of my heart that I express it. I felt the same sorrow eight years ago when my 18 year old daughter was murdered.
I know he will be missed by all who knew him, but The Almighty will give you strength to carry this.
Sincerely
Dr. De Leon
