God must be recruiting younger officers to his Police Corps.

You must be very special as God only wants the "Good Guys" up there with Him.

You will remain in our thinking until the end of time.

I'll shake your hand when my time comes, IF I make it where you are!

Trooper Blanton,

I honor you, your name, your memory, but mostly for the sacrifice you've made for the people of North Carolina, and your country. All of us gave some, but you gave all. You were a sharp looking Troop . . . just as I'd imagined a North Calolina State Trooper to look like. You were a part of a great organization of brother and sister officers, and they will insure justice is found for you.

We will not allow your memory to fade. You will always be remembered and honored. We may fill your position within our thin blue line, but we will never replace you. With utmost brotherly love and respect,

Jim Crotty (former Richmond, VA Police Officer).

"POLICEMAN'S PRAYER"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

A Part Of America Died,

Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

"This is my shield.
I bear it before me into battle,
but it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother
out of its shadow
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my
shield before me
facing the enemy.
"Gates of Fire By Stephen Pressfield
