Deputy Diaz, I am grateful for your life, your service as a law enforcement officer, and your willingness to face danger and death every day for the sake of others. My prayers go out to your children as they learn to live without their daddy. I pray that your memory will always be strong in them and that they will remember all you taught them and the love you showed them.

Thank you for laying your life down and protecting us and giving the ultimate sacrifice. You have no idea how much that means to some people who actually care what you do.

I have yet to join an agency because I promised my parents that I would finish college first, but I want to, and hope that under pressure I can make the same decision you did and lay your life down for the community. Thank you again my friend and may God bless your family and friends....

As a resident of Yolo County, it's difficult to comprehend that such thoughtless violence could exist in our community. And for that violence to result in the death of a young officer in service to the peace of the community is doubly bitter.

Deputy Diaz's family and friends are in our prayers, as are the family of the perpetrator to this horrible crime who understand shot Deputy Diaz with his infant in a car seat.

My sincerest hope is that God will help Deputy Diaz's family find meaning during this difficult time.
