Erik, it's been a few weeks since you left and I still miss you more than you know. I miss not seeing you at Code 11 getting a car for your off-duty job after I got off work. "James go home you look tired" was the last thing you said to me. We ALL hurt still. I have your coin you gave me when you graduated from the police academy in 2004. I cherish it and carry it with me and will do so to the end of my days. Dan Bartlett, Jason Bredehoft, Christopher Dennison, Thomas Rizzi, Martin Guerena, David Ortiz, Mithcell Schreiber. ALL of you guys were THE BEST squad handsdown. Erik, your gone from us physically but I truly believe spiritually your with us all. And that gives me some peace. I will miss you.

Ofc Hite thank you for making the ulitmate sacrafice that an officer can make. You are a true hero in every sense of the word. My parents have a home in Tucson and I would like to thank you and your fellow officers for keeping them safe. Your untimely passing hit home with my Dad as he is a retired Chicago PD officer. It home with me as the wife of a police officer and as a dispatcher. Rest in peace and keep watch over your fellow officers.

Officer Hite was a hero and a true patriot. It is proven by his sacrifice and his service in the U.S. Air Force and with the Tucson Police Department for 4 years. I pray for his wife, adult son, 1-year-old daughter, and parents.

If I could write Officer Hite a letter, this is what I would say...
God used you in such profound ways when you were alive... but the true miracle of your strength is that He is still using you to touch people today. My career started the week that yours ended -Sir, I consider you a steady foundation that I will always cling to. You taught me personally about officer safety... you trained 'nobodys' like me... I would give my life to have taken your place. Instead I will dedicate my life to following in your footsteps.

Still thinking about Officer Eric Hite and his family on this
Fathers Day which will sadly be just one of many firsts in this upcoming year. To his father, I know this day is so sad
for you. The thought of your heart break brings me to tears.
I hope that in time the wonderful memories you have will bring
you comfort and dull the empty ache at least for some moments.

I am equally sad for his wife and for Roy and Samantha who are experiencing this day with a sense of emptiness. To all of you as well I hope and pray that your memories will console you. I know that words are inadequate to express
and to console such deep loss. I just hope that to know that
others are thinking of you, and praying for you brings what
little comfort it can. Wishing you peace and the knowledge that beneath tragedy lies triumph.

Ofc. Erik Hite, My heart goes out to your family and friends in this most difficult time. You have contributed so much to society serving this country and your town. All know what a wonderful person you were.

Though I didn't know you personally I was pulled over by you for traveling far too fast when I was visiting my family in Tucson AZ. By showing you respect and talking to you and because you were such a nice guy, you let me go with a verbal warning.

You have served your time well... rest easy now.
God Bless!

Being a fellow believer, I wanted to see the video of your
service. The first video I went to, I couldn't figure out
how to get the audio. The second video I went to, I couldn't figure out how to get the visual. Oh, heck. I just listened to the service with a blank screen. I am glad I persevered. You made quite an impact, Erik...on your parents, your wife and children, law enforcement, military and spiritual families as well. You proudly served
your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and it trickled on down
from there. You had a beautiful witness and may many come
to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ because you helped to
pave the way. I know that is what matters most to you.. to
see souls won for the Kingdom and to be reunited with all those you cared about. You were a good reflection of the
King, Eric and I am supremely happy you are with Him forevermore. We will miss you, Eric and may God comfort those who are grieving this tremendous loss here on Earth.

I miss you Erik. You set the bar high. I know you loved your wife, son and daughter with all your heart. Thank you for setting the perfect example as a father and a husband to your family. You invited me so many times to your church. I have now started attending and love the members and your pastor. Why did I wait so long? Thank you for showing me Christ's love through your life. I still can't believe that your gone. You will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Thank you for being my friend!!!

Officer Dana Mattocks

Erik,

You would have been awestruck at the number of people that attended. The church had 3000 people in it and the motorcade was 11 miles long. 12 helicopters did your flyby. I cried at last call.

There were people lining the streets in 105 degree weather to watch you pass. The outpouring of support for Nohemy, Samantha, and Roy was amazing. I will miss you my friend. I will miss you saying, "How you doing Big Guy?" in the locker room and telling me it's going to work itself out.

Rest well, be at peace. The watch is ours.

Officer Hite,

I just have poured over the numerous tributes to your life. You will definitely be missed by your family, your friends, your co-workers, and the citizens of the City of Tucson. I just want to say thank you for your service to your country, state, and city. I grew up in Tucson and cannot believe how it has become more violent over the years. With that said, it did not deter you from service to your local community. There is something that makes you and other police officers unique across this country. Most people are taught to run away from the sound of gunfire. We, as police officers, move toward the sound of gunfire to protect those who may not be able to protect themselves. You responded without hesitation to answer that call. For that sir, you are owed a debt of gratitude that cannot be paid back on this earth. Your reward is in heaven. I pray that the members of your agency watch over and take care of any needs your family may have in these troubling times. Thank you! You have served your time well. Go 10-42 and rest brother. We'll take it from here.
