Reflections for Police Officer Erik David Hite

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I didn't know you, but I will have the opportunity to ride in your memory. I participate in the Police Unity Tour, we ride bicycles from New York to D.C during police week to remember the fallen officers "WE ride for those who died". Thank you for your service. I would like to meet any family members during police week if able to attend. My number is 865-804-4702 if someone could pass this along to the family of Officer Hite. Call any time.

I'm sorry about the disrespect shown to your memory and those left behind by you in regards to the "recording artists" that used your photo

You are a hero, then, now, and forever. To your family: God be with you on this already difficult journey.. I'm sorry for the pain being added by the flagrant ignorance of those that cannot understand Erik's sacrifice.

My heart goes out to Officer Hite's family in light of the recent disrespect directed at his death on a recent CD. It is hard that anyone could be so heartless and make light of his death.
Officer Hite will always hold a well deserved place of honor.

I grew up in Tucson, and went to high school with a girl named Kim Hite, so when I saw this on America's Most Wanted memorial, I thought maybe I know somebody in your family, and want to extend my condolences to Mrs. Hite, and their children, and all their extended family. I haven't been back to this website since we lost a sheriff deputy here in Hawaii, Daniel Browne-Sanchez, nearly two years ago. It's such a huge impact on the entire community, not only the community where the officer works, but the entire law enforcement community and their families. We all know it could happen, we pray every day for the safety of our own loved ones, and everybody who chooses to put themselves in harm's way to protect others. We'll never know how many lives were saved on June 1 by Erik's sacrifice. I'm very happy to see that Erik attended church, and knew our Lord, and I'm sure he has been welcomed into the eternal Kingdom. We pray for continued strength for his widow and children, that they may come to a place where grief will be replaced by the pride and comfort of knowing that Erik gave his life doing something he truly believed in. May God watch over all. Aloha ke Akua (God is Love)

To the family and friends of Officer Erik Hite and the members of the Tuscon Police Department, and most especially to Erik:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Hite was tragically killed.

To Officer Hite's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Erik gave to his community and the citizens of Arizona, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 2, 2008

To those who loved Officer Hite, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. It's been a long hard road, and even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure Erik will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Officer Hite for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.

Wishing those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne
