Mike,
I can not believe that you are gone. It seems like just yesterday we were working off duty details together. We always seemed to have a great deal of fun and laughs. I am honored to have known you and I want you to know that the world was a better place because of you.
It was a priveledge to watch your career grow. I remember when you were a security guard at the vacant hotel and then a firefighter, EMT, and finally a Deputy Sheriff. I remember how happy you were when you came out onto the road and finally was assigned to the motors.I also remember the pride you portrayed when you were selected for the SWAT team. I was happy for you.
I also look at some pictures of you and can't help but laugh thinking back on the fun times we shared. it was never a dull moment when you were around. I also think about the time that we went to Gang Investigator's School. Man that was a ball.
I want you to know that you will be in my thoughts and your family will be in my prayers. You were a great guy and I thank you for the ability to call you my friend.
To the Thomas Family, Please know that Mike died doing what he loved. I knew him well enough to know that he loved his career and his family. He was a dedicated law enforcement officer. May God grant you peace at this very difficult time of your life.
Looking forward to seeing you again my friend. Keep a watch on all of us in law Enforcement.

Mike, you will always be remembered by us in Houston County. You always gave your all to law enforcement and worked hard to get where you were. I remember how you often talked about how bad you wanted out of the jail and on patrol (on the road) in Bibb County. You made that goal Mike and gave your life to what you loved most. I stopped by the medical center to check on you a few weeks ago but was unable to see you. It was awesome to see how your family and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office never left your side. My prayers are with the Thomas family and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office!
