I just returned from James' beautiful memorial service. I did not know James, but through the many photographs of happy times and the kind and often funny words spoken by those who had the honor of knowing this wonderful man, I felt that I, too, knew him.
Amanda my heart goes out to you. Your loss is unimaginable and the pain so much to have to bear at such a young age. Be comforted in knowing that the love you and James shared is very special. This is reflected in the way that he carried a song in his heart every day. He loved people and saw hope and opportunity for everyone, even those who are often overlooked.
God, too, saw an amazing spirit and unique personal characteristics that He needs for bigger purposes. James has not left us. He is just now entering a new and exciting training program wherein he will be back in spirit performing God's work in a new capacity.
My heartfelt Thank You to all men and women in law enforcement and the many other men, women, and children who love them!

Today our community mourns the loss of a good man. A dispatcher's greatest fear is to lose a fellow officer during their watch. We hold our breath every time we send you into these situations and breathe a sigh of relief when you advise Code 4. You were a great deputy, always willing to go above and beyond the call to make your community safe and you made the ultimate sacrafice on 5/23/08. We will miss you and will be there for your family should they call. LO2 10-98 and 10-7, go rest high on that mountain.
