Reflections for Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski

Dear Sgt. I want to thankyou for your courage, for helping to save others. I want to thankyou for being the best Sgt. I ever had. You were a great impact, on the lives of fellow Police Officer's in the 24th District and 4th District, now we are at a loss. Every day while in rollcall, you told us to be safe, back each other up,go home alive. As the street supervisor you showed up without request, you taught us do's and don'ts to make our job safer. Unfortunately, I was unable to be there for you, when you were taken from us, your family and this world. Lord knows had I been on the street, I would had been right behind you, perhaps the situation would have been different. I have been often told God works in mysterious ways, and that this was not meant to be, God has a different plan for all of us. Meanwhile, please continue to look over all of us Law Enforcement Officers, and we will keep you in our prayers. Never Forgotten. Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski #486. Peace to All.

We have never met Sgt, but your courage and unselfishness has touched me. You did what you believed was right and justified. May you rest peacefully... may your department recognize your feats for years to come...

Sergeant Liczbinski,

Although I have never met you personally I am sure that we have crossed paths on an occasion or two, either at court or somewhere else in the city while I worked up there. You are a true example of a cop, one who unselfishly gave his life protecting the community and its citizens. I pray that your death will never be forgotten and that your dedication to the “job” will be reflected by your co-workers as they carry on the fight. The Thin Blue Line got a little thinner but it also got a lot stronger when you left us. God bless you and your family. Rest in peace Sergeant Liczbinski, we have the watch now.

I am touched and deeply saddned by your loss. God knows your sacrfice. You did your best to protect others and the lord almighty will look over your family for you, as you are taken from them so soon. Thank you I can only say now. Even though I don't know you, thank you for your service to protect citizens such as myself.

I'm so sorry for the loss of such a warrior and devoted husband and father. The fact that such a man would still venture into the jungles, knowing each day could be his last speaks to his courage and the last words he spoke in this world speaks even louder to his honor. It's this love of family that keeps us out there striving to protect them with even our last breath. God will protect and love your family and your children will grow up with a longing that no person can fill, but with an absolute love and pride in the great man who was their dad. God bless you and keep you safe on your journey brother...

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED."

I read this on an earlier reflection and I couldn't believe how accurate it is. Thank you to to the Officer who left this message and more importantly THANKS to Sgt. Liczbinski for the ultimate sacrafice. He will not be forgotten.

I never met anybody on this job with as much natural ability as you. You had that knack of just knowing where the bad guys were. You always seemed to be a step ahead. Your strong will and determination to catch offenders was admired by many. When others would get to work a little early and talk on the back steps or check the rumor mill, you would be on the computer bringing up warrants. You left us when you made Sergeant and went to the 24th. One of your officers was assigned to me for the CBN detail not long before your passing. The officer asked me if I knew you and when I told him I did he couldnt wait to tell me how great of a Sergeant you were. Not long after that you had court in the 4th and I am so sorry I didnt remember to pass that along to you. Instead we sat for a little bit and joked about your old partner's stats since you left the 4th. Unfortunately, that was the last time I ever spoke you. Know that you are a HERO in every sense of the word to all of us. We will miss you and I promise we will never forget. We will see to it that your family will be taken care of. You can rest in peace now.

I am sure the words you spoke at your death will carry your wife and children for many years to come. It speaks monuments about a man whose last words are in concern for their family- not themselves.

Your sacrifice is obviously our loss. Your character didn't only show forth in your heroic acts but also showed when you decided to pin on a badge.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. You were obviously a man who deserves respect and my honor. For that, I salute you.

May God comfort your hearts. It is not a loss but a gain in heaven. The bible tells us, there is a time to mourn and a time to rejoice, a time to cry and a time to laugh. May the memories of our brother bring you joy and peace and may God fill your emptiness with his love. May he guide you all (fellow officers and family) and strengthen you all. He tells us to come to him so that we can be saved and that someday we shall see our loved ones who have gone before us. It is only temporary that we are here on earth but shall live eternally when we leave this earth. Give Him all your worries and frustrations and he shall bless you with the desires of your heart and set you free. My fellow brothers/sisters in blue, God is always with you. He loves you all. He is with you in your toughest trial. He is a shield about you. Don't give up, keep going. You are all doing a terrific job even if no one ever tells you. You fight the ultimate sacrifice and some of you pay the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you all for serving our communities and protecting us. In return, God will reward you. We love you all so much, so keep your heads up because there is someone out there who holds you in prayer and thinks about each of you. You are not forgotten. To the family of Sgt. Liczbinski, be blessed and be strong.

Someone who cares.
