It's 6:30 am, my cellphone rings, and I look at the number of the incoming call. It's my good friend from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, Maj. Clark Whetstone. I know it's not a good call as it's way too early to tell someone hello. He briefly tells me that we have lost another brother in the Line of Duty, this one from his agency. My heart sinks, and i'm up out of bed wondering what happened? Another tragedy has occurred.

My heart goes out to the friends and family of Deputy Howell. There is not a day that goes by where I do not check out the ODMP. People ask me why, and I tell them it's a reminder of how short Life can really be for our Warriors in our profession. It could me someday. I will keep Deputy Howell, his family, and co-workers in my prayers.

Members of the AUTO TRAP UNIT have been told of the loss of Deputy Howell, and they will keep his family in there thoughts.

RIP William,
