The Police Officer's 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, His comforting hand reduces fear to naught; He makes me walk through streets of crime, But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod, And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God," He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul, For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door, I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more; For Thou art with me every step of the way, As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me, As I work daily among life's enemies; He gives me authority to uphold the law, And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, Each day of my life through eternity; As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...," When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

I remember when you came out of the academy and started on the road; it wasn't long before you were brought into 911 and introduced to "your dispatchers." Being the pranksters that we are, especially Alaina, it didn't take long for us to start giving you a hard time......hince the nick-name Rooster. How awesome that you just fell right in there and started calling yourself the rooster and it became your trademark. The past 4 mos. our shifts spent alot of time together and you, Justin, Efran, and even Edmond became like our brothers. You were a great guy, an awesome deputy, and a genuine person. Though I resigned a week before your accident, I had looked forward to a long friendship with all of you. I will miss you greatly and my prayers are with your family and your "guys". Rest in peace, Rooster.

As a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Griffin family and the state of GA.

Someone special
Died today,
Leaving this world
Lonely, bleak, and gray.
He was a man in blue
With a badge and a gun,
Who left behind
A wife, a mother, a son.
His warm sad tears
Wet the earth as he died,
While his brothers in blue
Wept and cried.

His badge now rests
Upon his still breast,
A shining bright star
Among a dark blue chest.
Though the sun will warm
Another summer day,
The world is so cold
Cause someone special died today.

Robert as I sit here and read everything I still dont know what to write. I can remember the last time i talked to you and wished i'd known it was going to be my last. I think i'd said more than see u later rooster. Things wont ever be the same again. Every time were at the training building for SRT im sure i'll mispronounce every plane I see since your not there to tell me what kind they are. I've had a lot of time on my hands since i've been on vacation and I look back on the times we have hung out around the camp fire at my house or at Hobbit Hoagies joking around the table. Rest in Peace brother and look over the rest of us doing what U loved best. 1*

Each time I had the pleasure of seeing you, I was greated with a smile and usually a joke to follow. Whenever I requested your assistance, you were readily available and never complained. I will greatly miss you and never forget you.

I never imagined when Justin Bedwell (DCSO 19) & Robert (Fallen Officer) entered the radio room at 0625 hours on May 1, 2008, this would be the last time I spoke to him. My heart is deeply saddened because because his death was so unexpected and such a tragedy. His death while on duty is a communications officers worst fear!!! We(911 operators) sit behind the radio ever day & ultimately we develop a bond with personnel of each agency we serve and consider those men and women who put their lives on the line our extended family. When a family member is taken away regardless of the circumstances, a link to chain is gone,,, NEVER to be replaced. Robert's family will forever be in my heart and always in my prayers. He will be greatly missed.
