NC STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

When our love ones goes to work each day we never know if that is the last time we will see them or not. They go out and do what they are suppose to do, protect and serve the citizens. Not thinking it could be their last day. We should have the most respect and honor for these men and women. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Burns family. God always picks his best from the crop and Mr Burns must have been the best of best. May God be with you and your family. God will be with you every step of the way.

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all undesirables, look with a kindly and professional eye on your earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation, and wise judgement. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers, and impervious to temptations. You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the policeman's lot on Earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men. Amen.

Rest, Brother. We will take it from here....

Denton County Sheriff's Office

Being a former dispatcher and the daughter of a Sheriff I know the pain that the family, friends and brother law enforcement officers are going through. God has taken him from this earth and has placed him in heaven to watch over us. We will never understand why he had to leave but we must take comfort that he is in the hands of the lord. My heart goes out to the Burns family. Nothing can ever replace a husband, father, son, brother or friend. My heart also goes out to the dipatchers of Marion County who were working that terrible night. Lori you did your best and that's all anyone could ask of you. I sat behind that radio for 7 years and I know the relationship that you build with the officers and their families.
Scott, you are now with the Loard watching over us. You've done a Great Job and your brother law enforcement officers will take over now.

Phyllis Butler
Former dispatcher & daughter of the Marion County Sheriff
