Your heroism and service is honored today, the 58th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

It is wonderful to see you so honored. I never met you, as you passed a few years before my birth. But, your brother, Bert Elam, my dear grandpa, spoke with love and reverence for you. I felt like I had almost met you because of his vivid, funny, and touching tales about you and him. He missed you all the rest of his days. I am the poorer for never meeting you in person, but you legacy lives on in my stories to my sons about our family.
